New Policy of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Stricter Implementation of Baggage Checks at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport
Since 1 May of 2007, the Bureau of Customs implemented a stricter inspection of all baggage of arriving passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to ensure the collection of the correct duties and taxes on taxable items such as luxury items, jewelries, expensive wrist watches, electronic and digital softwares, communication devices and articles of commercial quantities.
For the information and guidance of all arriving and departing passengers, the BOC has come out with the brochure entitled “Passenger Guideline for Travelers.” The brochure defines and describes, in simple terms, all that the passengers need to know about customs and quarantine laws, rules, regulations and procedures. The Embassy has requested a copy of this brochure and, once received, will disseminate the information contained therein.
